Principal Business Analyst Job Description:

is looking to expand our systems software team with an energetic and capable Principal Business Analyst. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in utilizing their prior experience to perform IT business analysis for an airline customer. This includes but is not limited to analysis, requirement definition, and testing assistance of IT enhancements to meet customer needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal Business Analyst will be involved in the development of requirements, and definition of business processes to support the development of airline operations applications. This position will be responsible for supporting business functional analysis, decision-making, and communications to the internal customer, and IT project team.

The Principal Business Analyst will prepare requirements documentation, business process flows, acceptance test criteria, and participate in the QA testing as required for implementing changes into a production environment.


More than ten years of experience performing business analysis activities, including defining requirements for IT system enhancements to meet the needs of business users and processes
Expert ability to:
Define desired, measurable business results
Define business process flows for new or changing business processes
Define and document test criteria, as well as participate in the testing of IT systems to ensure the design meets the requirements
Balance business and technical needs to define MVP
Resolve discrepancies among stakeholders
Present complex technology to non-technical audiences
Experience collaborating on large, complex business problems, system designs and specifications
Good analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to function well in a self-directed, team-oriented environment

Solid technical background in modern software development
Expertise leading Agile software development processes, e.g. backlog grooming

Excellent listening, verbal & written communication skills, and the ability to facilitate requirements gathering meetings to produce epics, features and user stories
High level of influence with others
Ability to work collaboratively with experienced, multi-disciplinary, business & technical experts
Ability to work with all levels of customer and internal management

Experience in QA testing, and end user training

Ability to be self-motivated and detail-oriented
Two or more years of experience in airline operations IT systems would be preferred, but not mandatory


B.S. in Business Management and/or Computer Science, or equivalent
